An ALLY is someone who supports equal civil rights, gender equality, LGBTQ social movements, and challenges homophobia, biphobia and transphobia. Being an ally to the LGBTQ community and all diverse communities means a lot more than just saying the right things (or avoiding saying the wrong things.) It’s about honoring a person’s individuality, providing an inclusive environment where they feel valued and supported, and not asking them to fit into the “predefined” straight norm or role.
