Free Webinar: Our Role in Confronting and Overcoming Systemic Oppression
When: Wednesday, Jan 27, 2021 from 3:30- 4:30 PM Pacific Time
This webinar will examine privilege and entitlement as experiences predicated on identifying with one or more aspects of the dominant culture. Privilege and entitlement is frequently unseen and rarely acknowledged and serves as counterpart to the experiences of people who experience systemic oppression. Our goal in this webinar is to move beyond anger and guilt to being able to recognize the existence of privilege and entitlement, interrupt through the articulation of inclusive values that inform proactive behaviors as well as articulate inclusive policies that inform proactive practices.
Understand the manner in which historical oppressions in combination with systemic privilege and entitlement provide rationale for implied core values that inform policies, practices, values, and behaviors.
Recognize the way in which our own personal belief systems impede the understanding of and appreciation for other peoples culture.
Examine ways to leverage entitlements and privileges, within the systems, for the benefit of all organizational members for a more equitable environment.
